Thomas and I went to York and the National Railway Museum yesterday and managed to see ex-LMS Royal Scot, 46115 'Scots Guardsman', working the Scarborough Spa Express its penultimate day of operations for 2013.
And just as 46115 stood on platform 5 Freightliner's class 66, 66557, runs through platform 3 panicking a number of enthusiasts into thinking that their chance to photograph the special was gone - not realising this was a conflicting move and 46115 wasn't going anywhere just yet!

Recently there's been media coverage about the recently listed signal boxes - however, listing isn't always a guarantee that boxes (or any building) will have an assured future. This is Howden on the Hull - Selby line; it closed in the late nineties and has stood empty ever since.

Very soon we'll see a very new flow of traffic in equally new wagons transporting imported bio-mass to Drax Power Station! This is one of the new wagons on display at the National Railway Museum - quite impressive in the flesh! And here is Drax's own video on the subject - hideously corporate but interesting nonetheless -
And until the new services begin in the autumn, we still have these trails running locally using specially prepared HTA wagons. All good news for the railway with completely new flows beginning!
